Alliance breaks down in Esenyurt: DEM Party fields a candidate
The DEM Party, which had announced it would not field a candidate in Esenyurt due to an agreement with the CHP in certain Istanbul districts, has reportedly decided at the last minute to field a candidate in Esenyurt and has notified the Supreme Election Council (YSK).

Ali Gökmen, who served as the CHP Youth Branch President and District President in Esenyurt and was most recently a member of the Esenyurt and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council, had been announced as the CHP's mayoral candidate for Esenyurt.
THEY WERE GOING TO SUPPORT THE CHP CANDIDATE
It had been announced that the DEM Party would not field candidates in several districts in Istanbul, including Esenyurt, and would instead support the CHP candidate. Following this, Ali Gökmen withdrew his candidacy for health reasons, and the CHP subsequently nominated Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer as its candidate.
DECISION TO FIELD A CANDIDATE
According to information obtained by 12punto, the decision to field a candidate in Esenyurt was made at the last minute after the DEM Party was not included in the CHP's Esenyurt municipal council member list.
It has been learned that the DEM Party, which submitted its lists to the YSK in the evening, has nominated Süleyman Avşar as its candidate for Esenyurt.
