Alperen Ceylan, son of former AKP MP Nevzat Ceylan, arrested

Alperen Ceylan, the son of former AKP Ankara MP Nevzat Ceylan, has been arrested for resisting police. 

Journalist İsmail Saymaz shared details regarding the process of Alperen Ceylan's arrest.

On August 14, a report made to the Ankara Police Department stated that an intoxicated individual was attacking a colleague at the construction site of the 19 Mayıs Stadium complex. 

Following the report, teams dispatched to the scene reported that Alperen Ceylan was swearing at them, shouting loudly, and breaking and damaging property.

According to the report, Ceylan was under the influence of alcohol and did not want to declare his identity, which led to the calling of backup teams. During the arrival of the teams, Ceylan presented his identification after being persuaded by his colleagues and the police.

It was emphasized that Alperen Ceylan is the son of former AKP MP Nevzat Ceylan. Ceylan also shared information not included in the police report: Ceylan attempted to avoid a background check by showing a card issued by the Turkish Parliamentarians Union to the families of MPs, but the police did not back down.

During the interrogation, it was determined that Ceylan had been convicted of resisting police and had been wanted for months. Ceylan was arrested and sent to prison due to the finalized sentence in that case. Furthermore, it was stated that when Ceylan was caught in traffic while drinking with a friend in Bolu, he tried to prevent a report from being filed by citing his father's position as an MP, but the police recorded the events, and that report led to Ceylan's conviction.

ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

An administrative investigation has been launched by the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports due to Ceylan arriving at his workplace intoxicated, damaging public property, and insulting his colleagues.

The ministry appears determined to impose a penalty. It is alleged that Ceylan was appointed as a private secretary to the Battalgazi Municipality through an exceptional quota due to his father's influence and subsequently transferred to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. 

Additionally, it is stated that a file regarding Ceylan's inappropriate behavior toward another woman was closed and that he was transferred to the Altındağ District Directorate to keep him out of the public eye.

HE HAD AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM

Former MP Nevzat Ceylan stated that his son has an alcohol problem. Ceylan expressed that his son takes on a different personality when he drinks and that this situation is related to psychological issues. He noted that they have experienced some problems due to his son's behavior and have faced difficulties regarding treatment.

Nevzat Ceylan explained that his son was caught in a traffic stop while drinking with friends in Bolu a few years ago and received a penalty for it, and that he was arrested following that incident.
