Another council member resigns from CHP's Bayrampaşa municipality
Successive resignations from the CHP in the Bayrampaşa Municipal Council have affected the balance of power in the assembly.
The resignations of CHP council members in Bayrampaşa have altered the political balance in the assembly.
With the most recent resignation of İbrahim Soytürk, the number of members who have left the CHP has reached four. These developments have begun to threaten the CHP's 18-member majority in the council.
According to Sözcü TV reporter Muratcan Altuntoprak, following the detention of Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, CHP members Murat Salman and İbrahim Soytürk decided to leave their party. The resigned members are currently serving in the council as independents.
THE FUTURE OF THE COUNCIL IS UNCERTAIN
The council currently has 18 members from the CHP and a total of 15 members from the AKP and MHP.
However, in the event that Mayor Hasan Mutlu is arrested and removed from office, the possibility of the municipal administration passing to the AKP is on the agenda.
A total of 48 people were detained along with Mutlu.
These resignations and potential developments could lead to a reshaping of the political landscape in Bayrampaşa.
