Another political party is withdrawing from the political arena; Memleket Party is closing

The extraordinary congress held at the party headquarters was chaired by Deputy Chairman Asuman Ali Güven and Secretary General Halil İlker Çelik. All 667 registered delegates of the party were invited to the meeting.

In the first session of the congress, in accordance with charter requirements, a simple majority of 50+1 percent of delegate attendance is required to make a decision. If participation is insufficient, the meeting will continue on the second day with the delegates present.

In his statement regarding the matter, Secretary General Çelik said, "If a sufficient majority is reached on the first day, we will proceed to a vote. If a majority cannot be reached, we will hold the congress on the second day with the delegates present."

Deputy Chairman Asuman Ali Güven had previously called for a merger in his statements, saying, "By closing the Memleket Party, we must continue our path by uniting our common struggle for the future of our country under the roof of the Republican People's Party (CHP)."

At the congress, where critical decisions and discussions regarding the party's future are being followed, all eyes will be on the final decision to be made.
