Another resignation from İYİ Party: Support for CHP candidates, harsh reaction to Akşener!
Güniz İlayda Keskin, İYİ Party Eyüpsultan District Chair and Municipal Council member candidate, announced in a press conference that she has resigned from her party and will support CHP Eyüpsultan Mayoral Candidate Mithat Bülent Özmen.
İYİ Party Eyüpsultan District Chair İlayda Keskin has resigned from her party. Keskin called for support for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and CHP Eyüpsultan Mayoral Candidate Mithat Bülent Özmen.
Keskin also showed a harsh reaction to İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener.
"A MENTALITY THAT DISTRIBUTES LIKE ALMS"
Reacting to Akşener as well, Keskin spoke as follows at the press conference she held on the subject:
''As a woman of the Republic, my reason for being in politics is; in fact, our common concerns, the injustice in income distribution, inequality of opportunity in education, the failure to fulfill any of the requirements of being a social state, a polarized and segregated society, the lost trust in the state and the justice system, the fact that even the functioning of the law has become a matter of personal ambition and interest, a life where neither the retiree nor the worker is happy, where unemployment and our youth's future anxieties are growing like an avalanche, a mentality that makes its people needy and distributes what they deserve like alms, exhausted hopes, and setbacks we do not deserve.
SINCERITY AND HONESTY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY PRIORITY
Politics has been a tool for me to change this order imposed upon us. As a child of this homeland, a mother, and a businessperson, I started my political life in the İYİ Party, which I supported the establishment of with these thoughts and the aim of finding solutions to wrongs. I have served as a provincial and district executive in the years since 2017. I became the Eyüpsultan District Chair by being elected with the votes of valuable delegates at the last ordinary congress. I have endeavored to carry out all my duties with a motto that is intertwined with the public and considers the interests of society. Sincerity and honesty have always been my priority in my business and political life.
"PARTY INTERESTS TAKING PRECEDENCE OVER COUNTRY INTERESTS..."
In return for great struggle and effort, I resigned from my position as İYİ Party Eyüpsultan District Chair; at the final point reached, because party interests, I say this with sadness, took precedence over the country's interests, due to unqualified and irregular appointments within the party, and finally, as a result of Akşener shifting direction while acting with the logic of 'the candidate to be elected' in solidarity against the current government no matter what, and entering into a mindset that openly serves the current government. I do not currently hold any political party identity.
"MİTHAT BÜLENT ÖZMEN IS A GREAT CHANCE FOR EYÜPSULTAN"
For the benefit of Istanbul and for Eyüpsultan to be managed with merit, I would like to announce my support in your presence for Ekrem İmamoğlu in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality elections to be held on March 31, and for Dr. Mithat Bülent Özmen, who is very precious to me, in the Eyüpsultan Mayoral elections. I think Mithat Bülent Özmen is a great chance for Eyüpsultan. I would like to state with all my sincerity that he is one of us, someone who loves his country, is qualified, hardworking, and someone whose door you will always knock on like a friend, whom you will be happy to know. All of Eyüpsultan will see how right a choice you have made as you get to know him.''
