Another resignation in IYI Party

Resignations continue in the IYI Party. Most recently, Deputy Chair of Health Policies Dr. Aylin Anıl Arslan announced that she has resigned from her position and the party.

Arslan stated, “Due to this decision taken by the IYI Party and the fact that recent statements have been of a nature that supports the AK Party and the People's Alliance in the municipal elections, thereby strengthening the current government, I am resigning from my position as Deputy Chair of Health Policies and from my party membership.”

''I AM RESIGNING SO THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT STRENGTHENED''

Arslan's resignation statement is as follows:

“While serving my country as an obstetrician and gynecologist for 20 years, I participated in the 2023 general elections as an IYI Party Hatay Parliamentary Candidate. The earthquake disaster that occurred during that period, the idea of how we could help the people there, the difficulties experienced by myself and my physician colleagues as doctors, the public being turned against doctors due to the government's misguided health policies, and as a result, the exodus of healthcare workers who face violence and are devalued day by day—these were among the countless reasons that influenced my decision to enter politics. What excited me most during this process was the opposition parties coming together to form an alliance and their efforts to change the current government. In the post-election period, like every opposition candidate and voter who supported the alliance parties, I experienced great sadness and disappointment, but I decided to continue the political struggle. With the party's proposal and approval, I was appointed as Deputy Chair of Health Policies. As of today, it is clear that the decision to enter the local elections in 81 provinces without cooperation will lead to many negative consequences for the country's interests, primarily the loss of metropolitan municipalities that were won against the government through the alliance. Due to this decision taken by the IYI Party and the fact that recent statements have been of a nature that supports the AK Party and the People's Alliance in the municipal elections, thereby strengthening the current government, I am resigning from my position as Deputy Chair of Health Policies and from my party membership.

I would like to thank all my friends and IYI Party members with whom I walked the path and was honored to work during my 28th Term Hatay Parliamentary candidacy and my tenure.”
