Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü has resigned from the CHP and joined the New Party. Ünlü described his decision as a "continuation of our political journey."
Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü has resigned from the CHP, the party with which he won the election, and joined the New Party. At the badge-pinning ceremony held for Ünlü, his party badge was pinned by New Party Deputy Chairman and Muğla MP Gizem Özcan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Özcan expressed her satisfaction with Ünlü's joining the New Party. Ünlü, for his part, said that his decision should not be viewed as a separation.
Ünlü stated, "Today is not a day of departure for us. On the contrary, this decision, which we made with the belief that we need to be even more united, without division, and with our commitment to our values, is a continuation of our political journey."
Stating that they will continue to produce solutions to the problems of Marmaris, Ünlü emphasized that as mayor, his responsibility is to all of Marmaris. Ünlü said, "Marmaris is our living city. We will continue to work for a Marmaris where our city lives for 12 months," he expressed.
Saying that the doors of the municipality will be open to everyone, Ünlü stated that they will continue to hold talks with the central government, the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, and other state institutions in line with the interests of Marmaris.
At the end of the program, Ünlü pinned New Party badges on his father, Muhammed Ünlü, and his mother, Şennur Ünlü, who had pinned his first badge when he first started in politics. The ceremony ended after a photo was taken with family members, party officials, municipal council members, and party members.
