Another statement from the MHP on the Demirtaş controversy: Pointing to Article 90 of the Constitution

The discussions regarding the detention status of Selahattin Demirtaş, which have been on the political agenda for a long time, have now received a statement from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

MHP Deputy Chairman and member of the resolution process commission Feti Yıldız made assessments regarding the release of former HDP Co-Chair Demirtaş, who is being held in Edirne Prison as part of the Kobani case file.

In his conversation with journalist Memduh Bayraktaroğlu, Feti Yıldız stated that the issue should be addressed based on legal principles rather than through specific individuals. I see Feti Yıldız as one of the valuable voices of conscience not only for the MHP but also for our parliament and our political world because: he talks about the law based on principles, not individuals...

His emphasis that when the Selahattin Demirtaş issue is raised, the matter should be viewed through Article 90 of the Constitution rather than through names was the clearest indicator of this...

This is a very respectable and understandable stance because the law either exists for everyone or it does not exist for anyone..."
