Arınç sends a message in Cairo with two anecdotes

Two anecdotes shared by former Parliament Speaker Bülent Arınç during a trip to Cairo with a group of former AKP deputies and businesspeople have sparked a new debate in politics.

During the trip, which was reportedly led by former AKP Kırşehir deputy Abdullah Çalışkan, Arınç took the microphone during a bus ride and first criticized greed and ambition through the story of "harese." Arınç explained that a camel eating thorns in the desert becomes addicted to the taste of its own blood and eventually dies from blood loss, stating, "Ambition and greed come from 'harese.' Just like the camel, it brings about a person's end."

Arınç's second anecdote drew attention with its emphasis on the judiciary and justice. Recounting the example of "the man who buried his dog in a Muslim cemetery," Arınç concluded the anecdote with the following words: "The day you buy the qadi, justice dies; the day you kill justice, the state dies..."

It has been suggested that some AKP members present on the trip were uncomfortable with Arınç's words and the examples he provided. These remarks by Arınç came following debates within ruling circles sparked by some of his recent statements.

CRITICISM OF GÖKÇEK AND COMMENTARY ON DAVUTOĞLU

Arınç had previously criticized former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek for going to give a statement while chewing gum. Arınç had said, "The day before, another politician went to give a statement upon invitation. Chewing gum, smack, smack... I watched it with shame; I don't even want to mention his name."

Regarding Ahmet Davutoğlu's testimony, Arınç had described Davutoğlu's answering of questions as a "noble act." Arınç stated that he had conveyed that Davutoğlu was exercising his right to criticism as a politician.

The report also stated that Mustafa Aşçı, a 27-year veteran of TRT, filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requesting an investigation into allegations regarding the FETÖ structure, personnel recruitment, external productions, tenders, and public losses at the institution. According to Odatv, former Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, who was responsible for TRT, was also named as a suspect in the petition.
