Harun Çalkın, the brother of AKP Kars Deputy Adem Çalkın, carried out an armed attack on the manager of a news website on the grounds that he had published reports critical of his brother.
According to the report by Altan Sancar from Sözcü, the website's general publishing coordinator, Muhammed Halitoğlu, and one other person were injured in the attack. Çalkın surrendered to the police with his weapon.
The injured Halitoğlu and Hüseyin Altunbey, who happened to be at the scene, were taken to Kars Harakani State Hospital for treatment. Halitoğlu, who underwent surgery because the bullet broke a bone, remains under treatment.
"THE ATTACK WAS DONE ON PURPOSE"
Claiming that he was attacked because he criticized Çalkın for political reasons, Halitoğlu said, "His brother approached me, asked 'What are you doing here?', and then opened fire. I managed to dodge some of the bullets by maneuvering, but one hit my leg and broke the bone. He later went and turned himself in. Unfortunately, even though the local media knew about the incident, they did not report it. I had my wedding today; they knew I was coming for that. This attack was done on purpose. We have postponed our wedding."

It was learned that the reason for the tension between Çalkın and Halitoğlu was the reports published against Adem Çalkın in the online newspaper named "Kars'ın Sesi". In his statement to the police, Çalkın claimed that general publishing coordinator Muhammed Halitoğlu had insulted him and his family.
