Arrest requests for 15 of those detained at the Saraçhane rally

The 34 people detained during the protest held at Istanbul's Saraçhane Square on July 1 were taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after undergoing health checks following their processing at the Istanbul Police Department. The protest was organized to mark the 100th day of the imprisonment of the incarcerated Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu.

ARREST REQUEST FOR 15 PEOPLE, JUDICIAL CONTROL FOR 19

The prosecutor's office requested the arrest of 15 of those detained. 19 people, including members of various political parties and non-governmental organizations, were referred to the judgeship with a request for judicial control.

MINISTER OF INTERIOR: JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS INITIATED AGAINST 42 PEOPLE

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced in a statement on his social media account regarding the Saraçhane protests that 42 people were detained on the grounds that they insulted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and resisted the police during the rally. Yerlikaya stated that judicial proceedings have been initiated against these individuals and that 8 people were released after their processing.

HOW WILL THE PROCESS PROCEED?

After the statements of the 34 suspects referred to the courthouse are taken by the prosecutor's office, they are expected to be referred to the duty magistrate judge with requests for arrest and judicial control.
