MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli evaluated the discussions regarding the meeting between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace. Stating that it is normal for Erdoğan to meet with mayors, Bahçeli said he was uncomfortable with Yavaş being kept on the agenda constantly on certain television channels.
Yavaş, who did not attend the CHP's General Headquarters and Anıtkabir programs on September 9, had met with Erdoğan at the Palace that same evening. In the statement made regarding the meeting, it was stated that consultations were held regarding services and work in Ankara. However, the meeting caused different interpretations and allegations in political circles.
BAHÇELİ: THEY ARE OFFICIALLY DOING PR
Speaking to journalist Ceyhun Bozkurt, Bahçeli argued that the media should play a more active role in explaining the second opening process, called a "Terror-Free Turkey," to the public. In contrast, Bahçeli claimed that the agenda of some channels is constantly shaped through opposition figures.
"While it is important for three or four media outlets to explain the terror-free Turkey process to citizens and share the details of it, they were saying Ekrem İmamoğlu from morning till night, and now they are saying Mansur Yavaş. They are officially doing PR in the open."

Stating that he has been tracking how often Yavaş is mentioned on screen, Bahçeli said, "I recently called a friend and assigned them to watch those channels and take notes on how many times Mansur Yavaş is mentioned. In a single program, the name Mansur Yavaş is mentioned over 50 times."
Stating that no extraordinary meaning should be attributed to the Erdoğan-Yavaş meeting, Bahçeli expressed that it is natural for the President to meet with mayors.

Bahçeli also touched upon the discussions that arose with President Erdoğan's phrase "upcoming elections." Stating that the elections will be held on May 14, 2028, according to the normal calendar, Bahçeli said that it is also possible to renew the elections within the constitutional framework. Bahçeli stated that this should be defined as "renewal of elections" rather than an "early election."
Giving a message regarding the MHP's presidential candidate, Bahçeli said, "Our candidate is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan." Reminding that Erdoğan won the 2018 and 2023 elections, Bahçeli used the phrase, "Only the third of the three crescents remains."
