Bahçeli calls Öcalan 'founding leader' once again: First reaction comes from Alparslan Türkeş's daughter

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli visited the grave of the party's founding leader Alparslan Türkeş in Ankara for the Eid al-Adha holiday. In his statement to journalists there, Bahçeli repeated the term "founding leader," which he had used previously for PKK terrorist organization ringleader Abdullah Öcalan.

AYYÜCE TÜRKEŞ: YOU COULD NOT HAVE SAID THESE WORDS IN MY FATHER'S PRESENCE!

These remarks drew a harsh reaction from the late Alparslan Türkeş's daughter and İYİ Party Adana MP Ayyüce Türkeş Taş. Sharing the video containing Bahçeli's statements regarding Öcalan on her social media account, Ayyüce Türkeş addressed the MHP leader with the following words:

“We have now seen the terrorist ringleader, the traitor, the baby killer declared a ‘founding leader’ at the grave of my father, Başbuğ Alparslan TÜRKEŞ… On this blessed holiday, this is the greatest disrespect shown to his cherished memory in my father's presence. Could you have said this to his face while he was alive??!!!”

WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?

MHP leader Bahçeli made the following statements to journalists after visiting Türkeş's grave:

'Today, our Turkey has seen the decision for the dissolution of the PKK and the laying down of arms through the 'Call for Peace and a Democratic Society' statement by the founding leader Abdullah Öcalan regarding separatist terrorist activities; this was accepted and implemented at the 12th Congress. This is an important step; it is the beginning of Turkey ending terrorism. From now on, it is the beginning of the spirit of an important understanding that accepts as a target the path to becoming a great, powerful superpower in terms of permanent economic growth, social development, and national integration as a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' strengthening within the framework of the democratization process and human rights. For that reason, today's holiday should be accepted as an important holiday far beyond the painful periods of the past that dragged Turkey into darkness. One should act in accordance with the meaning of the holiday.'
