Bahçeli compares CHP to 'crusaders': 'Their view of Turkish history is almost identical'

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement.

Bahçeli stated, "Presenting the Great Offensive as a rival to the Battle of Manzikert on August 26 and creating a two-sided front is a grave disrespect and an attack on history, the nation, and the national destiny."

Bahçeli's statements are as follows:

'POLITICAL AND IDEOLOGICAL EXECUTION'

August is a month of victories that are intertwined, linked to one another, document our dignity of existence, register our historical achievements manifested at different times, and provide the roadmap for the future.

History is a whole, and turning up one's nose at any period while sharpening another is a weakness that cannot be appreciated or approved.

In particular, extracting hostility from history and making categorical discrimination between historical figures and events will lead to very dangerous consequences.

The fact that the despicable mentalities that polarize Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Sultan Abdul Hamid II do not stop there and dare to carry this polarization to Sultan Alparslan is not only a sign of ignorance but also a conspiracy of the political and ideological execution they are the perpetrators of.

'DIVISIONISM HAS PERMEATED CHP'S POLITICS'

Pitting the Battle of Manzikert against the Great Offensive, smearing two honorable pages of Turkish history, and sowing discord between Muş and Afyonkarahisar is not an honorable, responsible, or conscientious attitude.

The administrators of the Republican People's Party (CHP), along with their crony, partisan, and funded 'wretched' media, have, so to speak, gone off the rails and begun to drift from one delusion to another.

The CHP, which has turned into a party that divides the people and the Republic, has a view of Turkish history that is almost identical to that of crusader ambitions.

Presenting the Great Offensive as a rival to the Battle of Manzikert on August 26 and creating a two-sided front is a grave disrespect and an attack on history, the nation, and the national destiny.

It is a shameful disgrace that the CHP, which fueled ethnic and sectarian divisionism by 'getting DEM-led' at the Hacı Bektaşi Veli commemoration ceremonies, exhibits the same attitude on the occasion of August 26 and takes it even further.

Divisionism has thoroughly permeated and infected the politics of the CHP.

'THE 'DEM'-LED CHP...'

In essence, the patron of the dark focus that acts insultingly toward the works, legacies, and virtuous struggle of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and furthermore, declares war on them, is today's CHP administration.

Attempting to spread discord among our ancestors is an externally guided operation by a collaborative and unprincipled mob suffering from a loss of memory and dignity.

Of course, the Turkish nation will not fall for this game.

The will that crushed Byzantium in the Manzikert Square and opened the gates of Anatolia is the same as the will that launched the Great Offensive and ultimately leveled the invaders in Dumlupınar, and this will is unique to the Turkish nation.

Mixing up our history and distorting past events will only be called an updated Byzantine scenario and a vile plot by enemies of the Turks and Islam.

The political pose and position of the 'DEM'-led CHP is a high-level threat.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find any other explanation or way to express these developments.

'THE TURKISH HOMELAND WILL EXIST FOREVER'

The fact that internal and external enemy circles, who still cannot digest that Anatolia became the homeland of the Muslim Turkish nation 953 years ago, who cannot heal their deep wounds, and who can never forget the pain of the defeat they suffered, are coming at us with puppets they have recruited from politics, media, universities, the business world, art, intellectuals, and non-governmental organizations, and are irritating our national sensitivities, is intensifying day by day.

However, our noble nation, which holds Sultan Alparslan's banner with faith and walks in the footsteps of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with love, is undoubtedly capable of weathering this violence and leaving the ambitions of these derailed subcontractors unfulfilled.

I remind the political opportunist mentality that has turned into a dump spiritually and fallen into the pit of wretchedness that,

Homeland does not mean land opened for zoning, donated plots, or gifted pieces of soil.

There is a countless and interconnected chain of events that makes a geography a homeland and creates a homeland out of a struggle and a battle.

A homeland is not the accidental product of a time interval or a moment in history; it is the product of a laborious search spread over many years, sprinkled with faith and wisdom.

What gives a land the title of homeland and vaccinates it as a homeland is, of course, the sacrifices made for it, the high consciousness that connects the past with the future, and above all, the immense self-sacrifice of the martyrs.

Thank God, this consciousness of sacrifice and this culture of self-denial are abundantly present and tied to the great Turkish nation.

The transformation of Anatolia into a homeland is primarily the reward of a preparation adorned with reason, a dignity sharpened with morality, and a great goal crystallized with faith, which will be remembered with admiration.

953 years ago, heroism laid cowardice to rest on these lands.

953 years ago, the voice of Truth silenced the breath of falsehood on these lands.

At Manzikert, the course of history, the orbit of humanity, and the main lane of tension between civilizations showed change, and even transformation.

For this reason, the feeling of revenge that hostile centers have harbored against the Turkish nation for centuries has never ended, nor has it shown any signs of diminishing.

Byzantium did not just receive a fatal blow on the Manzikert plain; the gates of Istanbul were opened to our noble nation, which was honored by the glad tidings of our Prophet.

The thirst for justice and the need for peace and brotherhood in the Anatolian geography ended with the Battle of Manzikert and was confirmed by the August 30 Dumlupınar Victory.

The conquest of Anatolia cannot and should not be seen solely as the work of weapons, war, success on the battlefield, or heroic fighting.

If won victories are not riveted with the virtue, mercy, prudence, will, and humanity to digest, carry, and advance them step by step, they will not and cannot be permanent.

Every great victory is a heavy burden for those who are unworthy.

Indeed, for the CHP and its 'DEM'-led partners, our historical victories are evaluated as a burden, and therefore, there is an intention to destroy them.

The Turkish nation is a victorious nation that has earned the victories it has achieved with the last drop of its blood and the last atom of its sweat.

For this reason, it has both made history and written history.

When the Turkish nation is removed from history, only a pile of fairy tales, dryly told bland events, and a parade of memories will remain.

Manzikert is also a conquest of hearts, longings, and hopes.

With the conquest, the Turkish nation opened a page of the future for its blessed existence, never to be closed again. This page is pure and has been reinforced by the efforts of many mortal lives.

On August 30, 1922, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms rejected the occupation, added a new one to the glorious victories of our history, and taught a historical lesson to those who dared to test the power of the Turkish nation.

The Great Offensive, along with the Battle of Manzikert, became two separate milestones that complement each other, where the Turkish nation's determination to exist resonated in hearts, and they have taken their privileged places in history.

What a great coincidence that the magnificent victory that made Anatolia a homeland, and the Great Offensive, which began on the same day exactly 851 years later and ended in victory on August 30, are thresholds of destiny and junctions of a sacred nature that carried our last homeland from darkness to light, caused the Phoenix to be reborn from its ashes, and connected Turkish history to each other.

In the time that has passed, it has developed its own geopolitics and human wealth in accordance with the strategic importance of the homeland it possesses.

It has been transferred from the Seljuks to the Ottomans, and from there to our Republic as a deep-rooted material and spiritual heritage.

Protecting the homeland is as honorable a duty as establishing a homeland and saving a homeland.

The People's Alliance, which is the spiritual root of the noble Turkish nation, is worthy of this honor and will protect the homeland to the end and will not give any leeway to collaborators and the front of betrayal.

Let those who have designs on the Turkish homeland and those who make calculations over the Turkish nation not forget that the descendants of Sultan Alparslan and the memories of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk are standing tall with majesty and excitement.

I would like to carefully remind those who spread poison by using terrorist organizations and those who take oppression as a guide to avenge the 953-year legacy of conquest of the pathetic state of the Byzantine Emperor at Manzikert and the disgraceful state of the invaders who were poured into the sea in İzmir.

It should be known that these sacred lands on which we have lived for 953 years are the legacy of our victorious ancestors, and their preservation and defense is a homeland responsibility that must be kept above all other considerations.

Those who are eager to plunder this treasure will bear the heavy consequences at every level.

Just as the tekfurs who tried to sow discord among us yesterday and the powers determined to destroy the Turkish nation were answered, it is certain that today the will of this great nation will rise again and deliver the Ottoman slap to those who deserve it.

The Republic of Türkiye will live, the epic of the Turkish and Turkish Century will be written, and the Turkish homeland will exist forever.

With these feelings and thoughts; on the 953rd anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert, I commemorate our great ancestor Sultan Alparslan and his brave soldiers; and on the 102nd anniversary of the Great Offensive and the August 30 Victory, I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our National Struggle heroes, and our dear martyrs with respect, gratitude, and mercy.

May our victories be blessed.
