Bahçeli's advisor targets 3 names: 'Fake nationalists'

Yıldıray Çiçek, chief advisor to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and a columnist for Türkgün newspaper, used harsh language regarding the Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) history and ideology in his column today. In his piece titled "Are there no fake nationalists?", Çiçek targeted former minister Namık Kemal Zeybek, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, and İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu.

HEAVY CRITICISM FOR NAMIK KEMAL ZEYBEK

In his article, Çiçek harshly criticized Namık Kemal Zeybek. Regarding Zeybek, he used the expressions, "The MHP is finished, it has completed its mission and taken its place in history. Today, I no longer believe that there is such a thing as the MHP. I do not consider the Nationalist Movement to be something that currently exists." Touching upon Zeybek's political past, Çiçek questioned his nationalist identity by stating, "There are those who market Namık Kemal Zeybek, who has changed nearly ten parties, as the 'greatest nationalist' among us."

'FAKE NATIONALIST' ACCUSATION AGAINST MANSUR YAVAŞ

Çiçek also labeled his other target, Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş, as a "fake nationalist." Recalling the statements Yavaş made after joining the CHP, where he said, "Today, by leaving my 40-year past behind and becoming a CHP candidate, all debates will end," Çiçek stated, "There is a gang of forgery that presents a nationalist identity falsely and tries to gain benefits from it."

Çiçek directed similar accusations at İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu. Reminding readers of Dervişoğlu's past statements, such as "I will never again say that I am a nationalist or that I was a nationalist," Çiçek stated that there is "a gang engaging in pirate and fake nationalism" surrounding Dervişoğlu.
