Bahçeli's congress call to Akşener: 'By abandoning her decision...'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli visited the grave of the late Alparslan Türkeş. Bahçeli made statements following the visit.

Here are Bahçeli's statements:

HE POINTED TO THE SIX-PARTY TABLE AS AN EXAMPLE

"As you all know, we have completed the month of Ramadan and reached its holiday. I congratulate you on your Ramadan Feast. Every year, we publish our holiday message in writing.

I would like to share my thoughts with you on a couple of issues. We are in the second phase of the new century. Turkey is facing very major issues and is under internal and external threats. Great distances have been covered in the disaster of the century, major fires, floods, and the fight against terrorism that has been ongoing for years. We are now in a new process. The second phase of the new century presents an occasion for the Turkish nation to resurrect, rise again, and take its rightful place in the struggle of nations.

There are 4 operations in arithmetic: subtraction, addition, multiplication, and division. Subtraction and division shrink; addition and multiplication grow. Turkey needs unity, harmony, and solidarity. If our political institutions desire the strengthening of democracy, they must first ensure political stability.

There is chaos, conflict, sedition, and exploitation of lies in our political parties. Now, many issues are being brought to the agenda again.

We are following television closely and listening to the speakers carefully. All the commentaries continue with rhetoric aimed at localization, polarization, and fragmentation. This must also be put to an end. The assessments of our press members must be parallel to Turkey's goals. This is not being paid attention to. I would like to express my opinion on one subject: Political debates, congresses, and the emergence of new candidates are ongoing in Turkey. After every election, a culprit is sought. This culprit manifests itself not in the management of the parties, but as efforts toward renewal in the parties through elements outside the management. The Six-Party Table is an important example in Turkish politics. Parties are in an effort of renewal by taking congress decisions. My thought is this: A group of friends who separated from us founded the IYI Party. The IYI Party is a political institution represented in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). There are 104 political institutions currently. These are the indispensable elements of democracy. However, 34 of them can participate in political elections. As a result of these elections, the primary mindset is to divide, shrink, and narrow the party.

CONGRESS CALL TO AKŞENER

The issue that a political party that separated from us is discussing today is the extraordinary congress on April 27. The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has experienced such behaviors throughout its 55-year political life. There have been separations, but in the end, the MHP has managed to remain standing like a great plane tree. Now, whoever comes along is trying to be a candidate. This is their most natural right. However, multiple candidates can also lead to multiple divisions. By associating the upcoming political stability with stability in political parties, I believe that Ms. Meral Akşener should abandon her decision to separate and continue at the head of the party, and that by rallying around the people who want to be candidates with her, they should rally around Turkey. I suggest that this political party, with which we have had relations in the past, with which we have brotherhood, and with which we have found the opportunity for neighborliness in political movements, should make its decision without falling into such a game or provocation, and strengthen their party through consultation at the extraordinary congress on April 27, where they will review their activities in Turkish political life and elect a chairman."
