Ballot box misconception revealed: CHP surpasses AKP in that statistic for the first time!

The Optimar Research Company, chaired by Hilmi Daşdemir, has shared its new research findings following the March 31 local elections. 

According to Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, in the survey conducted between April 2-5 with 2,000 people, the question “What do you think is Turkey's most important problem today?” was asked. While those who said “the economy” came in first place with 60.6 percent, it was followed by Syrians and irregular migrants with 6.1 percent.

CHP CAME IN FIRST FOR THE FIRST TIME

When asked “Who do you think will solve this problem?”, 24.3 percent of the survey participants answered CHP, while the rate of those who said AKP fell to second place with 20.2 percent.

MOST OF THOSE WHO DID NOT VOTE SAID THEY WOULD VOTE FOR THE CHP!

Optimar also asked the 152 people who did not go to the polls why they did not vote. Those who said ‘reaction to my party’ came in first place with 34.9 percent. They were followed by those who answered ‘as a reaction to the AK Party’ with 20 percent. While those who said ‘because I was undecided’ came in third with 19.8 percent, the rate of those who said they did not go to the polls because they reacted to the candidate was 14.6 percent.

The same 152 people were then asked the question ‘Which party would you have voted for if you had gone to the polls?’. Those who said CHP came in first place with 27.9 percent, while those who said AK Party were in second place with 20.9 percent. The Zafer Party came in third with 9.4 percent, and the Yeniden Refah Party came in fourth with 4.8 percent. While those who said DEM Party were 2.9 percent, it was followed by the MHP with 2.8 percent. Those who said İYİ Party were 2.6 percent, while the rate of those who pointed to the Memleket Party was 1.2 percent.

CITIZENS ARE SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS

Optimar also asked the survey participants whether they were satisfied with the election results. While those who said they were very satisfied were 16 percent, the rate of those who said they were satisfied came in first place with 37.9 percent. When the two are combined, it reaches 53 percent. While those who stated that they found the election results average were 20 percent, the rate of those who reported that they were not satisfied was 18.6 percent. The rate of those who said ‘I am not satisfied at all’ remained at 7.6 percent. When we add the two together, it comes to 26.2 percent.

ELECTION RESULTS ARE A MESSAGE TO THE AKP

The survey participants were asked, “What do you think is the most fundamental message given by the March 31 local elections?”

In first place, the answer given to the AKP was 33.3 percent. It was followed by the economic crisis with 21.5 percent. While a change in management came in third with 19.5 percent, retirees, who left their mark on these elections, came in fourth with 5.5 percent. In the last place is the success of the CHP with 0.8 percent.

VOTES RECEIVED BY THE YRP

Optimar also investigated whether the Yeniden Refah Party received protest votes against the AKP. 73.6 percent of the survey participants are of the opinion that it received protest votes. Those who said ‘No’ were 26.4 percent.

CITIZENS WANT A CHANGE IN THE CABINET

When asked ‘Should there be a radical change in the AKP administration according to the election results?’, 84.1 percent of the survey participants answered ‘Yes’, while those who said ‘No’ remained at 15.9 percent.

75.9 percent of the survey participants are of the opinion that the participation of ministers in the election campaign lowered the votes. While those who said ‘It increased the votes’ remained at 6.9 percent, a segment of 17.2 percent stated that they had no opinion.

Optimar also asked the question, ‘Should there be a radical change in the Cabinet according to the election results?’. While 75.1 percent of the survey participants expressed their opinion in favor of change, those who said ‘No’ remained at 24.9 percent.
