Barış Yarkadaş reveals where Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu will run as a candidate

"HE WILL BE THE TKP'S KADIKÖY MAYORAL CANDIDATE"

Yarkadaş stated, "Two months ago, when I participated in Pınar Işık Ardor’s afternoon program with Sinan Burhan, I shared some inside information. I said, 'Tunceli Mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu will likely run as a candidate from an Istanbul district or for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.' I said that work was being done on this. I said that at that moment, it was not a very clear situation. I said, 'It could be from the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) or the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).' Because the Workers' Party of Turkey had also done work on this and was interested. This was, of course, widely debated in the public eye at the time. Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu will, in all likelihood, be the Communist Party of Turkey's Istanbul Kadıköy Mayoral Candidate under the umbrella of the Socialist Assemblies Federation," he said.

"HIGHEST PERCENTAGE FROM KADIKÖY"

Yarkadaş added, "When I spoke with friends in the Socialist Assemblies Federation, I obtained the following information: First, public opinion research was conducted for Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu in 5 districts of Istanbul and 2 districts of Izmir. The highest response was 65% from Kadıköy and 63% from Bakırköy. I asked the friends who gave me this information, 'What does a 65% response from Kadıköy mean?' In one survey, 4,500 people in Istanbul said, 'If Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu runs as a candidate from Kadıköy, I will both vote for him and support him.' This corresponds to 65%. The information I have is that this study will be completed tomorrow or the next day, and Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu will likely be announced as the Communist Party of Turkey's Kadıköy candidate on Thursday. When he is announced as a candidate, if the Workers' Party of Turkey also puts forward a candidate there—which TİP also had the intention of doing—the Republican People's Party (CHP) should not have the comfort of saying, 'I will win there anyway,'" he stated.
