Bekir Bozdağ's response to Mahmut Tanal: 'I am the man who fought against FETÖ, I threw them into the sewer'

The General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of the TBMM Bekir Bozdağ.

Tensions rose due to debates during the session where the 8th Judicial Package was being discussed.

CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal argued with AKP Ankara MP Osman Gökçek while delivering his speech at the podium.

Telling Gökçek, "You are the ultimate FETÖ supporter!" Tanal also attacked Bekir Bozdağ in the continuation of his speech.

Tanal recalled the praise-filled words Bozdağ had used for Fethullah Gülen before the July 15 coup attempt.

Stating, "Aren't you the one who studied in FETÖ's schools? Aren't you the one who eats forbidden food up to your throat? You are the ultimate FETÖ supporter!" Tanal added, "If you are looking for a FETÖ member, look, the minister is here. Mr. Bekir used to say 'He is a venerable person' for FETÖ. Aren't you all like Mr. Bekir?"

"I THREW THOSE WORDS INTO THE SEWER, AS YOU REACH YOUR HAND IN THERE, BOTH YOUR HAND AND YOUR MOUTH GET DIRTY"

Speaking after Tanal's remarks, Bekir Bozdağ said, "I threw them into the trash, into the sewer. As you reach your hand in there, both your hand and your mouth get dirty. Please do not do this. I am the man who fought against FETÖ."

Bozdağ's speech is as follows;

"Every time things get tight, whenever the subject of Bekir Bozdağ comes up, the words I said are brought up. I threw them into the trash, into the sewer. As you reach your hand in there, both your hand and your mouth get dirty. Please do not do this. I am the man who fought against FETÖ. We put our bodies on the line for this terrorist organization to be purged and cleaned from the state, and all of Turkey is a witness to this struggle. The things we said because of those words that we constantly threw into the sewer and rejected many times are clear. Bringing it up every time is disrespectful. What is the point of bringing a word said in 2011 here over and over again like warmed-up leftovers as if it were said yesterday? I threw the words I said at that time into the trash, into the sewer pit. FETÖ is a terrorist organization, and Fethullah Gülen is the head of the terrorists. This is what I am saying."
