Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler referred to the courthouse!
Twenty-one people, including CHP Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, have been referred to the Beykoz Courthouse following their detention. The grounds for the detention were stated to be accusations of "rigging a tender" and "misconduct in office."
In Istanbul's Beykoz district, 21 people, including CHP Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, who was taken into custody from his home at 04:00 on the morning of February 27, were referred to the Beykoz Courthouse following detention procedures.
BARRIERS ERECTED
Before the detainees were taken to the hospital for health checks, police and riot control teams erected barriers in front of the Beykoz Municipality as part of security measures.
Köseler, who was detained on charges of "rigging a tender" and "misconduct in office," had been taken to the police station under the instructions of the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
İMAMOĞLU HAD REACTED
Following the incident, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the detention of Beykoz Mayor Köseler. Speaking at a CHP primary election meeting, İmamoğlu stated he was certain that Köseler would have gone immediately if he had been summoned to testify, adding, "What kind of personal ambition is this? You might say this is incomprehensible. But I know the reason for this anger and this ambition."
İmamoğlu had made the following statements regarding the detention process:
"Last week in the late afternoon, police came to the Beykoz Municipality. They had a document signed by a prosecutor in their hands. However, that prosecutor was not even aware of this document. Unfortunately, the signature was also fake."
Stating that there were doubts regarding the validity of the documents, İmamoğlu said, "Nothing could be accessed via the barcode. When this matter came to light, it is clear that the mastermind behind this bad plan became very angry and turned it into a personal vendetta. As a result, a raid was conducted on the mayor's house at 04:00 in the morning. This is a shameful situation."
Noting that Mayor Köseler was currently being taken to the police headquarters on Vatan Street following the detention operation, İmamoğlu reacted by saying, "These are not normal procedures. These are shameful things that we do not want to see in our country and that we would not want even a single person to experience."
