Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney detained: He gave the same statement!

CHP's Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney was detained this morning as part of an investigation conducted in Istanbul. Güney had won the election in the March 31 polls with the "urban consensus" with the DEM Party—an alliance that the CHP refers to as the "Istanbul Alliance."

THE SAME STATEMENTS WERE GIVEN 1.5 MONTHS AGO

According to Halk TV's report, on July 5, 2025, Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Alican Abacı gave a statement to the prosecutor's office as a "confessor." In Abacı's declarations, İnan Güney's name was mentioned in the context of the Beyoğlu Municipality, Beltaş, and advertising tenders. The statements in question were repeated with almost identical content 1.5 months later in Murat Kapki's effective remorse statement.

COMMON POINTS BETWEEN THE TWO STATEMENTS

In both Alican Abacı's and Murat Kapki's statements, the following points regarding İnan Güney stood out: His influence over Beltaş and the Beyoğlu Municipality – Both statements indicate that although İnan Güney is the Mayor of Beyoğlu, he was effectively influential in Beltaş and the Beşiktaş Municipality.

Close relationship with Serkan Öztürk – Both witnesses describe Serkan Öztürk as a close friend of İnan Güney and state that they acted together during the advertising tender process.

Billboards and tenders – The statements include allegations that advertising spaces belonging to Beltaş were directed to specific individuals and companies, and that tender conditions were altered.

Giving work to his inner circle – While Abacı states that work was given to the companies of İnan Güney's relatives from the municipality and its subsidiaries, Kapki also claims that Güney profited from advertising spaces.
