Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan announces he has been threatened

Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan announced that he has received threats due to his social media posts following the Republican People's Party's (CHP) declaration that they would not participate in a delegation to be formed to visit İmralı Island. The CHP had decided not to provide members for a delegation to visit terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island.

Defending this decision, Özcan stated that the decision taken by the CHP has given confidence to the Turkish nation. In his statements, Özcan said, "With the decision it made today, the CHP has given confidence to the Turkish nation. Those who collaborate with terrorists will see the very bottom of the ballot box!" Özcan also stated regarding CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel, "Mr. Özgür Özel will be remembered as a second Ecevit from this day forward."

While defending the CHP's İmralı decision, Mayor Özcan also made a post criticizing the AKP for taking a similar step. Özcan posed the question, "Why is everyone discussing the CHP's refusal to go to the terrorist, but not discussing the AKP's going to the terrorist?"

HE APPLIED TO THE POLICE FOLLOWING THE THREATS

Stating that he began receiving threats after his posts, Özcan announced that he received messages and phone calls from members of the PKK and FETÖ. Emphasizing that these threats are increasing, Özcan said, "Following my recent posts and my criticisms regarding going to the terrorist leader, for 2 days now, both PKK and FETÖ scoundrels have been calling and sending messages, insulting me and hurling threats!"

Mayor Özcan stated that he shared the situation with police forces following the threat messages. Özcan declared, "Do not say, 'Isn't it very strange?' Both of their strings are in the hands of the anti-Turkey US! I am not afraid, and I will not be afraid of these scoundrels! I am only sharing this with the police so that it remains in the state's archives!"
