Bozdağ reacts to boycott: 'Stopping the economy is a sign of weakness'
Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Bekir Bozdağ reacted to the one-day nationwide boycott that took place following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu. Criticizing the boycott calls, Bozdağ stated, "Saying 'do not shop, let the economy stop' is a sign of weakness." Bozdağ, who also visited D&R, which was on the CHP's boycott list, argued that targeting domestic companies is wrong.
Following the process that began with the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and continued with his arrest, a one-day general boycott was held nationwide on April 2 due to the lack of impartial coverage of these events in the media and the arrest of hundreds of young people.
Deputy Speaker of the TBMM Bekir Bozdağ spoke about the 'boycott' in Yozgat, where he had gone to attend programs for his party, the AKP.
"A SIGN OF WEAKNESS"
Bozdağ stated the following regarding the boycott calls:
"I ask you now, put your hand on your conscience; whose companies are these domestic and national firms? The company may not be mine, but these are the companies of this nation, the companies of this state. When our domestic companies stand tall, the Turkish nation will be stronger, its dependence on the outside will decrease, and its economic independence will be further strengthened. When the economy is harmed, who will suffer? From CHP supporters to MHP supporters, from AK Party supporters to IYI Party supporters, regardless of which party they belong to, no one remains unaffected by this damage and loss. Would people with common sense and sound minds call for stopping the economy? Saying 'do not shop, let the economy stop' is a sign of weakness."

HE HAD VISITED D&R AFTER THE BOYCOTT CALL
Deputy Speaker of the TBMM Bekir Bozdağ had visited D&R, which was included in the boycott list announced by the CHP, on March 28.
