Breaking News: Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık transferred to hospital
Imprisoned Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık has been taken to the hospital.
Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested as part of an investigation into corruption allegations involving the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), has been transferred to a hospital.
CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik stated that Çalık was taken to the hospital to undergo blood tests.
Çelik made the following statements:
"We just received news, my colleagues told me. He has been taken to the hospital again. He was sent into exile 600 km away from his home and family, to Izmir. He has survived cancer twice; he is experiencing significant weight loss and health problems. He is still in prison under a great deal of hostile law and great cruelty. Greetings to our Beylikdüzü Mayor, my dear brother Mehmet Murat Çalık."
