Breaking News: DEM Party responds to Bahçeli's 'become a party of Turkey' call

Touching upon the recent femicides, Hatimoğulları issued a call regarding the Istanbul Convention.

Highlights from Hatimoğulları's speech are as follows:

"Men derive this courage from a judiciary that is not being enforced, from impunity, and from a government that has abandoned the Istanbul Convention which marginalizes women and is considering repealing Law No. 6284.

Enough is enough. We have no tolerance for another woman being murdered. Preventive policies against male violence must be implemented immediately. The judiciary must stop being a 'male judiciary' and abandon the system of impunity.

The President says regarding femicides; 'an attempt is being made to create a perception regarding impunity.' No, Mr. Erdoğan, know this; we women are not creating a perception, we are exposing your lack of justice and the impunity in the judicial system.

Due to the exploitative system of the AKP government, both producers and consumers are hungry. Millions of people in the country cannot make a living. There is no justice in income, taxes, wages, justice, or freedom. This government lacks the competence to govern the country. This government must go as soon as possible. Stop acting as if the capitalist class is the landlord and everyone else is a guest. I am calling out to all workers here: You are the ones who produce, you are the ones who hold the power. There needs to be more organization. A worker who does not raise their voice is exploited more."

Addressing Israel's attacks in Palestine and Lebanon, Hatimoğulları continued her speech as follows:

"Bombs are exploding in Palestine and Lebanon. More than 40 thousand people have lost their lives in Israel's attacks on Gaza in one year. I respectfully commemorate everyone who lost their lives in these attacks in Palestine and Lebanon. This war is a new order of sharing in a multipolar world and is a war of imperialists who set out to create a new world order. Technology has now become more developed for regional-looking global capital wars. We call for peace to all the peoples of the world. Let us build universal peace together."

"THEY ARE SHEDDING CROCODILE TEARS FOR PALESTINE"

Stating that the AKP government has not cut off trade with Israel, Hatimoğulları said that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is attempting to design domestic politics by shedding crocodile tears for Palestine:

"Everyone knows that Turkey is conducting trade with Israel in different forms. Therefore, no one should shed crocodile tears for the Palestinian people. We know that Erdoğan wants to design domestic politics with these moves. Turkey is facing a very serious economic crisis."

Expressing that Turkey should solve its own internal issues itself, Hatimoğulları said, "It is the discrimination between peoples that divides this country. We say that there is a hope for a common life among peoples in Turkey, and as the DEM Party, we will continue to carry out our work for the peoples of Turkey to live equally and in brotherhood," she said.

RESPONSE TO BAHÇELİ'S CALL

Responding to journalists' questions after the meeting, Hatimoğulları noted the following regarding Bahçeli's call:

"We are a political party that struggles for peace. While defending freedoms, justice, and peace in Turkey, and while defending the poor, the worker, the laborer, the woman, and nature and human rights in Turkey, we are already a party of Turkey, and we defend these because we are a party of Turkey."

BAHÇELİ HAD SAID "COME AND BECOME A PARTY OF TURKEY"

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, in his speech at his party's group meeting, had said regarding his shaking hands with DEM Party deputies last week, "As the MHP Chairman, I reached out my hand by going to the DEM benches in a manner consistent with the stance of the People's Alliance."

Bahçeli had spoken as follows:

"The hand I extended is a message of our national unity and brotherhood. The hand I extended is the brightness of the first parliament and the accurate words of our President, burning like a torch. The hand I extended is a wish and a proposal to come and become a party of Turkey, to come and take a stand against terrorism, and to come and unite in our thousand-year brotherhood."
