In the Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır, Co-Mayor Cengiz Dündar was detained following a search of his home at around 05:00.
Dündar, from the DEM Party, announced the decision on social media by saying, "I have been detained."
It was noted that the operation was not directed at the municipality, but rather at an education union.
There is no detention order for Co-Mayor Berivan Gülşen Sincar.
