A significant development has occurred in the corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). The house arrest order for businessman Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who was previously released under house arrest after benefiting from "effective remorse" provisions within the scope of the investigation, has been lifted.
AZİZ İHSAN AKTAŞ'S HOUSE ARREST LIFTED
In the "Aziz İhsan Aktaş Criminal Organization" file, which laid the groundwork for the arrests of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, the house arrest order for Aziz İhsan Aktaş—who was alleged to be the leader of the criminal organization, was initially arrested, and later released after benefiting from "effective remorse" provisions—was lifted by the Istanbul 64th Criminal Court of First Instance. Thus, Aktaş has been released without the measure of house arrest.
JUDICIAL CONTROL MEASURES FOR OTHER FIGURES ALSO LIFTED
In addition to the lifting of Aziz İhsan Aktaş's house arrest order, judicial control measures for other key figures detained within the scope of the same file have also been canceled. These names include IMM Presidential Advisor Ertan Yıldız and businessman Adem Soytekin.
