Breaking News... Numan Kurtulmuş spoke in Parliament: What will be the status of the citizens detained by Israel?

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş made statements in the General Assembly following Israel's intervention in the Freedom Flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Kurtulmuş stated that the process regarding the detained Turkish members of parliament and citizens is being closely monitored.

"THE FIRST INITIATIVE HAS BEEN TAKEN"

The Parliament Speaker stated that Turkey has taken action through diplomatic channels regarding the matter, saying, "There are 21 Turkish citizens on the ship. An initiative has been taken to bring them to Turkey."

Kurtulmuş expressed that all state institutions are working in coordination and the process is being monitored moment by moment.

21 TURKISH CITIZENS ARE ON BOARD

It was reported that 21 citizens, including three Turkish members of parliament, were on the ship detained by Israel.

Highlights from Kurtulmuş's statements are as follows:

"There are 21 Turkish citizens on the ship. An initiative has been taken to bring them to Turkey.

As the TBMM, we say that these friends of ours must be released immediately from where they are being held and brought to Turkey. We advise Israel to come to its senses on this matter.

Today, I will send a text we are preparing to the presidents of all international parliamentary assemblies and the important parliamentary speakers of the world. Thus, we will once again share with the world public that Israel has far exceeded the limits in terms of disregarding the law."
