BREAKING NEWS... Statement from the separatist terrorist organization PKK following the decision to lay down arms

A group from the terrorist organization PKK, which laid down its arms in a ceremony in Northern Iraq and calls itself the "Peace and Democratic Society Group," issued a written statement immediately following the ceremony.

"As the Peace and Democratic Society Group, formed to accelerate the process of democratic change and transformation, we respectfully greet everyone present here who is witnessing our historic democratic action.

We have come here in response to the call expressed by Abdullah Öcalan in his statement on June 19, 2025. Our arrival is also based on the decisions of the 12th PKK Congress held on May 5-7.

As a step of goodwill and determination for the practical success of the Peace and Democratic Society process, and in order to conduct our struggle for freedom, democracy, and socialism from now on through democratic politics and legal methods, and on the basis of the enactment of democratic integration laws, we are destroying our weapons in your presence of our own free will.

We hope that this step we have taken will be auspicious for all our people, especially women and youth, for the peoples of Turkey and the Middle East, and for all of humanity, and that it will bring peace and freedom.

We invite all regional and global powers, who are responsible for the pain our people have endured, to respect the highly legitimate and democratic national rights of our people and to support the peace and democratic resolution process."

In the statement, the phrase "on the basis of the enactment of democratic integration laws" drew attention.
