Buğra Kavuncu mocks claim that 'CHP and IYI Party have reached an agreement'
İYİ Party Istanbul MP Buğra Kavuncu has mocked a report by journalist Enver Aysever claiming that "the CHP and IYI Party have reached an agreement, and Buğra Kavuncu conducted the negotiations."
As Turkey heads toward local elections, political parties have accelerated their efforts.
The IYI Party will discuss the CHP's call for cooperation at its GIK (General Administrative Board) meeting today.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated in his remarks, "We had a meeting with the IYI Party. They said they would take it to their General Administrative Board. Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for the board's decision. We respect whichever decision they make. If they decide to cooperate, we will sit down and talk. If they continue with their previous decisions, we will respect that as well. We will look ahead," he said.
CLAIM BEFORE THE GIK MEETING: CHP AND IYI PARTY HAVE AGREED
Ahead of the IYI Party's meeting, claims regarding the decision in question have also emerged.
Journalist Enver Aysever claimed that the CHP and the IYI Party have reached an agreement. Aysever alleged that IYI Party Organization President and Istanbul MP Buğra Kavuncu has been conducting the negotiations and that an alliance has been formed by reaching an agreement with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Kavuncu responded to Aysever in a post on his social media account. Quoting Aysever's claim, Kavuncu asked, "Well, does Buğra Kavuncu know about this?"
