Former Deputy Prime Minister and former TBMM Speaker Bülent Arınç commemorated Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Kadir Topbaş on his death anniversary on his X account.

After praising Kadir Topbaş's municipal management, Arınç evaluated the speech by Constitutional Court President Zühtü Arslan, in which he reacted to the non-compliance with AYM rulings.

MESSAGE FOR KADİR TOPBAŞ

Arınç continued his statement, in which he recounted his memories with Topbaş, as follows:

"Kadir Topbaş had won the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoralty for the second time and was subsequently forced to resign in his third year. He was a man of strong faith, committed to his work, knowledgeable, respectful, reputable, mindful of the rights of others, never using public resources for his own personal interests, extraordinarily generous, and was the 'Kadir Brother' who had earned the respect of all of Istanbul. The day came when he saw betrayal from those close to him and was subjected to slander. Hostility was directed at him and his family members. Because he did not respond to the interests and benefits they wanted, he became the target of a group that used the press, politics, positions, and party resources at their disposal very ruthlessly, masking their interests by engaging in regional nationalism. While these things were being done, he found nothing but the prayers and tears of a few sincere friends by his side. His old friends chose to remain silent and turn their backs on him. He was a very honorable person. He resigned so that his family members would not be harmed further. Those who worked against him are still living in shame with slander and the violation of others' rights, which Islam deems the gravest of sins. Kadir Brother was not the only example of this; many successful people were subjected to the same hostility during this process."

Arınç directed harsh criticism at some figures within the AKP, saying, "Those who committed these evils, those who were instrumental, those who remained silent, and those who supported them! You did not seek forgiveness while he was alive; I wonder what you will do now."

"YOU CANNOT EVEN GO OUT ON THE STREET OR APPEAR IN THE MEDIA"

"I know your situations; all of your thrones have shaken, you have fallen. You cannot even go out on the street or appear in the media. You have become 'politicians of specific days and weeks' who have emerged as a new method in our political arena. May God keep you and those like you away from public life," he stated.

HE THANKED ZÜHTÜ ARSLAN

In the continuation of his statement, Arınç used the following expressions for the AYM President:

"Speaking of loyalty, I also have a word of thanks for the esteemed President of the Constitutional Court, Mr. Zühtü Arslan. Mr. President, I listened to your latest speech; it was valuable, knowledgeable, and outspoken as always; I watched it with interest and appreciation. The wisdom-filled examples you gave moved me deeply. You expressed the principles of protecting fundamental rights and freedoms and keeping promises very beautifully. Mr. President, we love and appreciate you and your colleagues who are your companions in work, heart, and thought. I vehemently condemn the insulting expressions, sentences full of mockery, disparaging accusations, and threats directed at you recently. You have become the accepted prayer of this nation.

"I FOLLOW THE SILENCE OF THOSE WHO SHOULD DEFEND YOU WITH SADNESS"

In my political life spanning over fifty years, standing up for and defending what you advocate and achieve is a requirement of loyalty. I am glad you exist, and may you always exist. I follow the silence of those who should defend you with sadness. As the late Alija said, 'and when it is all over, what we will remember is not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.' Mr. President, when your term ends, I will write separately about the debt of loyalty we owe you from the past to the present."

Arınç criticized those who are "unprincipled," saying "Final word":

"Those who see lack of principle and disloyalty as a political maneuvering skill are those who count what happens in the short term as profit but are actually at a loss. I have been involved in politics in this country for over fifty years. Now, when I look back, there are two important things that remain with me and that I think I have been able to pass on to those I could touch: A politics bound by a set of principles and loyalty..."
