Call for resignation for Numan Kurtulmuş from a People's Alliance partner: 'Just like the HÜDAPAR and DEM line...'
Önder Aksakal, leader of the Democratic Left Party (DSP), which supported the People's Alliance in the May 14-28 elections, has called for the resignation of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş for targeting the third article of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye.
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's targeting of the third article of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye continues to remain on the agenda.
Following the backlash, Kurtulmuş issued a statement claiming he had been misunderstood and that there was a perception management campaign against him.
Another reaction to Kurtulmuş came from Önder Aksakal, Chairman of the Democratic Left Party (DSP), a supporter of the People's Alliance.
In a statement on his social media account, Aksakal said: "The 'pulled-pin hand grenade' that Parliament Speaker Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş left behind by saying 'The state does not have a territory. The state does not have a nation' is a direct attempt at an uprising against the secular Republic." he stated.
"HIS PROPOSAL IS PURE DEMAGOGY"
Aksakal continued as follows:
"His proposal, which he supposedly points to by saying 'This text should be expressed as the indivisible integrity of the nation with its state and territory,' carries no meaning other than pure demagogy and empty rhetoric. Given the point reached by political developments in our region on behalf of our country, it is an indisputable fact that the position currently held by the Speaker of Parliament is far removed from Türkiye's priorities."
DSP CALLS FOR NUMAN KURTULMUŞ TO RESIGN
Aksakal, who called for Numan Kurtulmuş's resignation, said: "It is understood that Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, who appears to be making an effort to open the first four articles of our Constitution to debate by referencing the third article, has entered into a search similar to the HÜDAPAR and HDP/DEM line. In this case, it would be more appropriate to leave the new Constitution efforts to the new term and coordinate them with a new Parliament Speaker." he stated.
