YENİ Party İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç reacted to İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay joining the AK Party and issued a call to citizens to gather in the square.
Güç invited the people of İzmir to the gathering to be held at Cumhuriyet Square on Wednesday, October 7, at 19:00. Arguing that the party change would not be accepted by the İzmir public, Güç stated that the reaction would be voiced in the square.
In his statement, saying that İzmir is a city known for its emphasis on the Republic and Atatürk, Güç used the expressions, "No one is superior to the nation. The great one is our nation. The great one is the Republic of Turkey."
For our Republic, for justice, for democracy, for the future of our children, we are meeting all together today at 19:00 at Cumhuriyet Square. İzmir will not be silent, the Republic will not be silent, the children of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will not be silent.
Continuing his call for struggle in his statement, Güç said, "We will continue our struggle with determination until this dark order changes."
