A call to CHP members and the party organization from the CHP Principles and Democracy Movement!

In the statement issued by the CHP Principles and Democracy Movement regarding the March 31 elections, it was stated: "As the CHP Principles and Democracy Movement, we call on all CHP members and the CHP organization to stand by the CHP and Turkey in the March 31 municipal elections."

The CHP Principles and Democracy Movement, for which former CHP Party Assembly Member and 38th Ordinary Congress leadership candidate Prof. Dr. Örsan Öymen serves as spokesperson, has released a statement regarding the March 31 local elections.

The statement, which addressed all CHP organizations, called for support for the party in the March 31 Local Elections.
In the statement by the CHP Principles and Democracy Movement, it was said: "In an environment where a theocratic dictatorship regime and a religious state are being established in Turkey, and in addition to this, a major economic crisis is being experienced, it is not possible to evaluate the March 31, 2024 municipal elections as a mere municipal election. If the public does not send an organized message of objection at the ballot box against the AKP and the MHP that supports it in these elections, Turkey will face an even greater catastrophe."

Referring to the constitutional amendment that may come to the agenda after the elections, the statement included the following: "With the constitutional amendments that will come to the agenda after the elections, attempts will be made to 'legitimize' the de facto theocratic dictatorship regime, the principle of secularism will be legally eliminated, the economic crisis will deepen, and the process of imperialism exploiting public resources and dividing the country through religion, sect, and ethnic identity will continue at full speed."

SUPPORT FOR CHP CANDIDATES

The statement, which emphasized supporting CHP candidates in these elections, noted the following:
"If the AKP wins the municipalities, the resources of the municipalities will be placed at the service of anti-secular sects, communities, organizations, and so-called 'media' outlets organized under the guise of associations and foundations, and the AKP will continue to lay the foundations of the theocratic dictatorship regime it is building through these resources. The AKP's greatest advantage in the elections is that the opposition is divided and the alliances in the opposition are fragmented. In this case, it will fall to the voter and the citizen to correct the incompetence of the political party leaders in the opposition. Without taking into account the calls of the political party leadership they support, the voter should cast their vote for whichever candidate has a higher probability of winning the election on the opposition front at the stage of voting for a candidate; they should avoid voting in a way that would cause the leading opposition party candidate to lose, and should cast their vote in a way that the AKP and MHP will lose, not the opposition."

EMPHASIS ON POLLS

The statement, which drew attention to the latest polls, continued as follows:
"Today, according to all research conducted, CHP candidates appear to be leading in most cities and districts of Turkey on the opposition front. For this reason, CHP candidates must be supported in these cities and districts. Since political party administrations have not been able to form an alliance against the government, the opposition voter must form this alliance at the ballot box using this method. Another problem is that, due to serious issues regarding internal party democracy and upholding the party's principles within the CHP, a portion of the CHP electorate tends not to vote for their party's candidates, and a portion of the party organization tends not to work during the elections. The CHP electorate and organization should postpone internal party problems until after the election and stand by their party and Turkey in the March 31 municipal elections.

BYLAWS CONGRESS

Whether or not the CHP achieves a successful result in the election, the CHP Bylaws Congress will definitely take place this year, and the possibility of resolving problems related to internal party democracy will arise. Considering that the vast majority of party members uphold the party's principles, if the problem of internal party democracy is resolved, the deviation of oligarchic forces from the party's principles will also be prevented over time after the Bylaws Congress. It should be known by everyone that those who cause the CHP to lose elections will not have any say in the future of the CHP and Turkey. As the CHP Principles and Democracy Movement, we call on all CHP members and the CHP organization to stand by the CHP and Turkey in the March 31 municipal elections!"
