As voting continues in the primary elections organized by YENİ Party across Turkey to determine provincial chairs, Istanbul Founding Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik has issued a call for participation to party members.
In a video posted on his social media account, Çelik stated that the ballot boxes set up in Istanbul's 39 districts will remain open until 17:00 and invited members to cast their votes.
Çelik, who is running as the sole candidate for the Istanbul Provincial Chair election, emphasized the importance of going to the polls regardless. Çelik stated, "Please do not think of this as an election with a single candidate. This ballot box is very precious, this ballot box is very valuable."
"WE ARE ACHIEVING A FIRST IN TURKEY"
Stating that his party determines its management cadres through the votes of its members, Çelik noted that district chairs have been elected, ballot boxes were set up today in 81 provinces for provincial chairs, and the general chair election will be held in November.
In his statement, Çelik pointed to the importance of the process for intra-party democracy, saying, "For the first time, we are electing district chairs, provincial chairs, and our general chair through the votes of our members."
