Can Atalay calls on the Grand National Assembly of Turkey regarding earthquake missing persons

Can Atalay, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Gezi Park trial and whose parliamentary membership was revoked after being elected as a TİP deputy for Hatay, has issued a call regarding those who lost their lives in the earthquakes that occurred on February 6.

In a statement made from his social media account while being held in prison, Atalay issued his call by citing the example of Uğur Gezer, who could not be reached following the earthquakes in Malatya:

"Uğur Gezer is 34 years old. During the February 6 earthquakes, he was at his home on Halep Street in Malatya. The rubble was cleared, but no trace of Uğur Gezer was found. Hava Özgür, a mother who raised Uğur Gezer and her other three children on her own, prepared missing person notices while living in a tent with her daughter. Struggling to get news of her son by hanging missing person notices featuring his photo and contact numbers all over the city, Hava Özgür says, 'At least give me his body if he is dead, or him if he is alive. Please, let him have a grave. Maybe his breath was just a breath that he gave and left, but I am dying every day... Perhaps he lost his memory due to the earthquake. Please help.' Hear the voice of Hava Özgür. Let an Investigation Commission be established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for Earthquake Missing Persons."
