Can Atalay: Hear the voices of the mothers

Former Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) MP Can Atalay, whose parliamentary membership was revoked in recent months and who is currently imprisoned in Silivri as part of the Gezi Park trial, has made a post on X.

In his post, Atalay called for effective searches to be conducted to locate those missing since the earthquakes. His post reads as follows:

“30-year-old Melike Kılıç was living with her husband and son in the İpek Apartment building in the Akevler neighborhood of Antakya during the February 6 earthquakes. The İpek Apartment building collapsed in the earthquake. Melike Kılıç’s son and husband lost their lives, and their bodies were recovered. Eyewitnesses stated that Melike Kılıç was pulled from the rubble alive; there are those who witnessed her crying at the site of the wreckage. However, Melike Kılıç has not been found since February 6, 2023. Her mother, Aygün Akdeniz, is shedding tears, saying, ‘I want my child, dead or alive.’ Hear the voice of Aygün Akdeniz. Conduct effective searches to find those missing from the earthquake.”
