Canan Kaftancıoğlu's trial adjourned
The trial of former CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, who is being tried on charges of "publicly degrading the state's military or security organization," has been adjourned until December 11, 2025. Kaftancıoğlu stated that her post targeted the employees of the institutions, not the institutions themselves.
According to a report by Ceylan Sever from Habertürk, the prosecutor's office has prepared an indictment against Kaftancıoğlu, seeking a prison sentence of 6 months to 2 years for the crime of "publicly degrading the state's military or security organization."
Canan Kaftancıoğlu appeared before the judge as a defendant at the hearing held at the Istanbul 43rd Criminal Court of First Instance.

"I POSTED THE TWEET TARGETING ITS EMPLOYEES"
Stating that her monthly income is approximately 100 thousand TL, Kaftancıoğlu said, "The post I made was based on information I received on election day that law enforcement officers were casting votes using duplicate duty papers. The tweet was not directed at the General Directorate of Security or the Gendarmerie. I posted it targeting the employees who bring these institutions into disrepute. I deleted it a few minutes later, thinking it would offend those who do their jobs properly. I made a statement regarding this matter."
The court decided to exempt Kaftancıoğlu from attending the hearings and to evaluate requests for further investigation between sessions, adjourning the trial until December 11.
