The Democrat Party (DP) held its 15th Ordinary Congress.
A dispute over candidacies broke out during the congress. While the Chair of the Congress announced that some delegates had withdrawn their signatures and that some names were considered invalid, the candidacy of Democrat Party chairmanship candidate İlay Aksoy was not accepted.
"YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT FROM THE AK PARTY"
As chants of 'Gültekin Uysal' were heard in the congress hall, İlay Aksoy, whose candidacy was rejected, lashed out at the Chair of the Congress, saying, "A coup was carried out in this party today. You are no different from the AK Party."
In a post on her X account, Aksoy stated the following:
"Let everyone hear and know!!!
A CLEAR COUP WAS CARRIED OUT at the Democrat Party congress today.
THE WILL OF THE DELEGATES HAS BEEN MORTGAGED.
Those who call themselves 'democrats' have not received even a shred of democracy."
