Candidacy question for Fatih Erbakan: Who is the candidate that 'everyone will say oh, finally'?

Attending his party's provincial chairs meeting at the National Youth Association Headquarters, New Welfare Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made assessments regarding the political agenda. When journalists reminded him of Felicity Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan's words, "a candidate will emerge that everyone will say 'oh, finally' about," and asked, "Are you that candidate? Is there an alliance?", Erbakan underlined that no such meeting had taken place with Arıkan on this matter.

Erbakan said, "Of course, we also heard the statements of the Chairman, Mr. Mahmut Arıkan. However, we had no prior meeting with him, nor was there any consensus formed regarding our candidacy. Therefore, it is not possible for us to know exactly who he is referring to; one would have to ask him. However, I would like to state that as the New Welfare Party, we hope to field our own presidential candidate in the 2028 elections.

Therefore, we would naturally be pleased if there were other political parties that would agree on our candidacy and support it. I would like to express that if such a consensus is reached, we will do our utmost to be worthy of the favor of the voters of the other political parties that support our candidacy," he stated.

"HIGH PROBABILITY OF A NULLITY DECISION"

Speaking about the nullity (butlan) allegations that have come to the agenda in the CHP, Erbakan said, "Of course, on the other hand, there is the issue of nullity. Regarding this, there was a 'controlled election' concept that we have been talking about for a long time. By this, we mean: a controlled election where the opponents are determined by the President, the conditions are determined by the President, and the timing of the election is determined by the President in a sudden, hasty manner.

Going into an election in a way where there is no candidate to win against him. At this point, there might be a thought that there could be a nullity and that the CHP could return to its old management and enter the election in some way, just like in the 2023 elections. Felicity Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan had announced that presidential candidacy efforts had begun but had not yet given a name. Making a statement on the subject, Arıkan had said, "Let's hold onto that for now so that the population in Silivri does not increase by one more," and stated that their candidate would be a name that would find resonance across Turkey.
