Cevdet Yılmaz: There are no runoff elections in a country with dictators
Speaking during budget negotiations, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated, "There are no runoff elections in a country with dictators."
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz responded to the criticisms of members of parliament during budget negotiations.
Yılmaz said, "It is unfair to compare Turkey with countries where there is a single party and no competition. Elections are held in accordance with the rules in Turkey. There are no runoff elections in a country with dictators. In an environment where there are dictators, metropolises like Istanbul do not change hands between parties."
THE RED BOOK WILL BE RENEWED
Explaining that the National Security Policy Document, known in the public eye as the 'red book', was first prepared in 1963 and has been changed 8 times to date, Yılmaz noted that the last change was made on September 30, 2020, and stated, "It is a document prepared by the MGK (National Security Council) General Secretariat with the contributions of institutions. It is renewed every 5 years if needed. An update study will be carried out in 2024."
Yılmaz also responded to questions regarding the discretionary fund, saying, "The expenditures made are within the limitations stipulated by law. There is no amount hidden from anyone," and added that no armored vehicles have been purchased for the Presidency since 2015.
