CHP achieves a first in 43 years in Binali Yıldırım's hometown
Following an objection by the CHP regarding the election results for the Provincial General Assembly member in the Refahiye district of Erzincan, the AKP lost one council seat. For the first time in 43 years, the CHP has secured a Provincial General Assembly member in Binali Yıldırım's hometown.
In the March 31 Local Administration General Elections, the CHP administration requested a recount of the ballots from the District Election Board, citing errors in the counts in the Refahiye district, particularly regarding the Provincial General Assembly.
Upon the acceptance of the objection by the YSK, the ballots were recounted at the Erzincan Courthouse. As a result of the recount, the Provincial General Assembly seat shifted from the AKP to the CHP by a margin of 1 vote. Hasan Özmen became the CHP Provincial General Assembly member.
In a statement made by the CHP regarding the matter, it was stated: “After a 43-year hiatus, being able to secure a Provincial General Assembly member in our Refahiye, which was our goal for this term, has been a source of pride for us. As a result of the recount conducted at the election board following our objection to the election results, our candidate Hasan Özmen has won the election. We congratulate him and wish him success in his work.”
