CHP's Ali Mahir Başarır calls on Kayseri Governor to resign

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır stated that Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek should resign due to his remarks regarding the nationality of the child who was molested in Kayseri.

Başarır held a press conference at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).

Before the press conference, Başarır's advisors brought a Turkish flag into the hall.

Regarding the events in Kayseri, Başarır said, "The Governor of Kayseri said that the young child was also Syrian. Mr. Governor, this is the Republic of Turkey. The nationality of a child who is molested here is not up for debate. Molesting a child, regardless of their nationality, is a crime, it is immoral, it is vile. For a governor in this country to be able to say this is a matter of shame. That Governor must resign."

WE KNOW THAT ASYLUM SEEKERS ARE A MAJOR PROBLEM

CHP's Başarır said, "Following these events, as the CHP group, we invite our citizens who are reacting to these incidents to exercise common sense. As the CHP group, we know that asylum seekers are a major problem, that this problem must be solved, and we promise that we will solve it. But we reiterate our call for common sense."

Başarır also added the following:

"It is unacceptable that our flags in northern Syria have been systematically subjected to vile attacks by certain dark hands and groups following these events. I do not recall seeing such a thing since the Cyprus events. Who are you? When we criticized this group, when we said, 'Do not feed them, do not stir up Syria, do not train them, do not empower them,' what did the President of this country, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, say? He said, 'They are groups gathered with the spirit of the Kuvayimilliye (National Forces).' Mr. Erdoğan, the Kuvayimilliye gave their lives for the flag of this country. The groups you feed have torn down my flag. You must come out and account for this."
