CHP changes its Istanbul Güngören and Esenyurt candidates
According to a statement from the party, the Republican People's Party (CHP) has changed its mayoral candidates for the Güngören and Esenyurt districts of Istanbul.
For the March 31 local elections, the CHP has replaced Ali Gökmen and Temel Akkoçlar, whom it had previously nominated for the Istanbul districts of Esenyurt and Güngören, with Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer for Esenyurt and Yüksel Yalçın for Güngören.
The following was stated in the announcement made by the CHP Headquarters:
"Our mayoral candidates for the Istanbul districts of Güngören and Esenyurt have withdrawn from their candidacies due to health issues. We convey our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Ali Gökmen and Temel Akkoçlar.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer has been appointed as the mayoral candidate for the Esenyurt district and Yüksel Yalçın for the Güngören district by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
