CHP crisis in İYİ Party! Candidacy of figure who called for cooperation cancelled

As the local elections approach, tensions remain high in the İYİ Party, which rejected the CHP's offer for cooperation.

Another crisis has emerged in the İYİ Party, where news of resignations and expulsions has been non-stop.

According to a report by Fatih Saygın from Gazete Duvar, the candidacy of Ayhan Pala, who was announced as the Ortahisar Mayoral Candidate last week during a candidate introduction ceremony attended by İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener in Trabzon, has been cancelled.

HE HAD RESIGNED FROM HIS POSITION AT THE METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

Ayhan Pala, who had resigned from his position as the Head of the Sports Department at the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, had been announced as the candidate for Ortahisar, one of the 6 districts whose candidates were revealed at the 'Organization Meeting' attended by Akşener.

HE ADVOCATED FOR COOPERATION WITH THE CHP

Following his nomination, Pala posted messages on his social media accounts stating that cooperation with the CHP in Ortahisar was essential, but he deleted these posts after facing criticism from his party. Following the posts that caused a crisis within the Provincial Organization, it was announced late last night that Pala's candidacy had been cancelled.

‘HIS STATEMENTS ARE BASELESS’

In a written statement made by İYİ Party Trabzon Provincial Chair Fatma Başkan, it was stated that Pala's remarks regarding whether or not cooperation would be formed were baseless. The written statement made by Başkan is as follows:

"Mr. Pala applied for candidacy after the decision that we would enter the elections ‘free and independent’ and set out on this path as the mayoral candidate for our Ortahisar district. The authorized bodies of the İYİ Party evaluate statements made by individuals on their social media accounts in line with the requests of authorized persons within the authorized bodies and make a decision. This decision is binding on the entire organization. It is baseless for a person whose candidacy has been announced to initiate a debate on whether or not cooperation will be formed in Ortahisar."
