CHP's Deniz Yücel to Bahçeli: 'We don't even take it seriously'

CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel made statements regarding the current agenda during a meeting held at the party headquarters.

Touching upon CHP Chairman Özgür Özel’s ‘Grand Pensioner Rally’ held in Ankara, Yücel said, “We will not stop fighting alongside our pensioners.”

Yücel used the following expressions in his speech:

'WE WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING ALONGSIDE OUR PENSIONERS'

“Pensioners feel the economic crisis that Turkey is in down to their bones, their cells, and their very marrow. We will not stop fighting alongside our pensioners until the lowest pension and holiday bonuses are raised to the level of the minimum wage, until an adjustment law is enacted to eliminate the disparities between pensions, and until our pensioners, who contribute to this country's economy and production, are held in high esteem.”

'DO NOT TALK TO US ABOUT INTEGRITY'

“Devlet Bahçeli, at his party's group meeting, directed a series of absurd questions to our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, and added that he was waiting for an answer with 'integrity.' A party that did not utter a peep while the former head of the Ülkü Ocakları, Sinan ATEŞ, was murdered in the middle of the street by street-level thugs, and while some names at the highest level of the party administration were linked to the murder, should not talk to us about integrity.”

'WE DON'T EVEN TAKE DEVLET BAHÇELİ'S QUESTIONS SERIOUSLY'

We do not even take Devlet Bahçeli's questions seriously; we consider it beneath us to respond. Our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, referring to Bahçeli's speech at the group meeting, mentioned the two people who write Mr. Bahçeli's speech texts. Our chairman said 'two people' in his speech and did not give names... Even though our chairman did not name them, those two people took it upon themselves and exposed themselves by attacking our Chairman on their social media accounts, foaming at the mouth. The satisfying part of the matter is that no one from the Nationalist Movement Party or the Ülkü Ocakları stood up for this duo.

'WHY WOULD A DEPUTY CHAIRMAN BE AFRAID OF BEING KILLED'

In recent days, an individual named Ömer Zengin, who was a companion of Sinan Ateş, stated in a TV channel interview that Olcay Kılavuz, whose name was mentioned in the Sinan Ateş murder, was “afraid of being killed by Semih Yalçın.” Why would a former member of parliament, whose name is involved in a sensational murder that made waves in Turkey, be afraid of being killed by a Deputy Chairman?

The Nationalist Movement Party is a political party. It is a party of a tradition. We have no problem with the MHP or the Ülkü Ocakları. We do not interfere in the internal operations of a political party or institution. But in every institution, in every political party, there can be people involved in crime.

Our problem is with those who are involved in this crime, those who protect them, and those who try to cover up this incident. The expectation of Sinan Ateş's grieving wife, as well as society and the public, is that the instigators behind the scenes of this incident be identified and brought to justice, regardless of who they are or who is protecting them, and that justice be served.”

'THEY SHOULD WASH THEIR MOUTHS BEFORE THEY DARE TO SPEAK ÖZGÜR ÖZEL’S NAME'

“Our advice to Mr. Devlet Bahçeli is not to be an instrument in the cover-up of the Sinan Ateş case. Furthermore, I say this for those two people; we do not respond to them in their own tone. We ask the questions that need to be asked. Our people will make the assessment. Those two individuals should wash their mouths before they dare to speak Özgür Özel’s name.”
