CHP figure addresses Mustafa Çiftçi, opens the Yerlikaya file!

Mustafa Çiftçi has been appointed as the Minister of Interior, replacing Ali Yerlikaya, with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan shared his assessments regarding the Yerlikaya era on his social media account.

CHP'S BAKAN EXPOSES YERLİKAYA'S MINISTERIAL RECORD

Pointing out that Ali Yerlikaya largely presented the fight against drugs to the public through the number of operations conducted, Bakan stated, "However, an increase in the number of operations does not mean success," and added the following:

"An increase in the number of operations does not mean that the drug economy has collapsed, that barons have been liquidated, or that international networks have been broken. If the financial chain remains intact, if the money flow continues, and if transit routes continue to operate, the number of operations is merely a statistic."

Stating that the Department of Anti-Narcotic Crimes has not been managed by a permanent appointee for 1.5 years, the MP emphasized that "This position is still being held by Deputy Director General of Security Ömer Urhal," noting that this situation is a sign of serious weakness.

Stating that mistakes were made in narcotics as in other areas during the Yerlikaya era, the MP listed the actions taken as follows:

Experienced narcotics managers were reassigned to other duties,

Expert staff were liquidated,

Institutional memory was weakened.

Stating that these choices led to a serious loss of capacity, the İzmir MP also expressed the differences between Yerlikaya and his predecessor, Süleyman Soylu, as follows:

"I criticized Ali Yerlikaya's lack of vision and his personnel choices very harshly. However, I do not think he is a profile who sets traps for people or engages in planned sabotage like Soylu."

Recalling the drug operation conducted on a Turkish-owned ship in Spain, CHP's Murat Bakan said, "The picture that emerged during the process regarding the 10 tons of drugs seized off the coast of Spain is even more dire," and expressed the communication problem between the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior with these words:

"During the operation process carried out by the Ministry of Justice and the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was seen that the Minister of Interior was not aware of the operation; he even made a statement to the public one day before the operation saying, 'It has nothing to do with Turkey'."

IS THERE A PROBLEM BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AND THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE?

Saying, "This situation points to three possibilities," the MP drew attention to the following:

The Minister of Interior did not have full control over his own bureaucracy.

Or, he was sidelined by certain elements within the Ministry of Justice and his own ministry.

Or both.

"If the Ministry of Justice, the prosecutor's office, and law enforcement units acted without coordination, this is a state crisis," the MP said, adding, "If the process was carried out without informing the Minister of Interior, which is what happened, this is a clear political operation. This issue cannot be seen merely as a minister's mistake. This issue is one of the most concrete examples of the coordination problem in the state's security architecture. The topics of drugs, organized crime, and counter-terrorism are not disconnected from each other. This fight cannot be carried out without full and transparent coordination between the Interior, Justice, the prosecutor's office, the police, and the gendarmerie."

Offering suggestions to the new Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan concluded his post with the following:

"Let us explain to Mustafa Çiftçi, who is very far from the subject and who I think will say 'What are they talking about?' when he reads this assessment, how the fight against drugs should be conducted.

First, you will start by appointing experienced staff with a staff-officer mentality to permanent positions. You will not look at whether these people are secular or not, nationalist, conservative, or social democrat; you will give the job to those who are competent.

A real fight begins with the collapse of financial networks.

It progresses with the breaking of the money laundering chain.

It deepens with the resolution of international connections.

It yields results with the closure of logistics and transit routes.

It becomes permanent with the liquidation of organized crime barons.

It is completed with social and preventive policies that will reduce drug consumption.

It is easy to conduct an operation against a street-level dealer.

The real issue is following the money.

If the Narcotics Department has not been managed by a permanent appointee for a long time, if expert staff have been liquidated, if inter-ministerial coordination cannot be achieved, and if the minister is sidelined in the state's most critical operations, there is more than a simple management error here.

I have no hope, but we will also follow Mustafa Çiftçi."
