CHP files criminal complaint against 3 individuals

The CHP has filed a criminal complaint against Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, former Menemen Mayor Serdar Aksoy, and columnist Mahmut Övür.

According to a statement from the CHP Press Office, the party has taken to the judiciary the allegations made by Özcan and Aksoy—both of whom were expelled from the party—and journalist Övür, claiming that “Chief Advisor to the Chairman Engin Özkoç and İzmir Deputy Tuncay Özkan obtained personal rent through an elevator company in CHP-run municipalities.”

In the separate applications filed on behalf of the CHP legal entity to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was requested that an investigation be launched and a public lawsuit be filed against the aforementioned individuals for “slander,” “publicly disseminating misleading information,” “publicly insulting a public official due to their duty,” and “inciting the public to hatred and hostility,” on the grounds that they were “attempting to create a perception that the CHP is involved in corrupt relations.”
