CHP's first statement on İzmir operation arrests
The CHP has announced that it will appeal the arrests in the 'Cooperative' investigation in İzmir, where 45 people were detained, describing the move as a political maneuver.
Republican People's Party (CHP) officials held a press conference in front of the İzmir Courthouse regarding the 45 individuals arrested as part of the 'Cooperative' investigation conducted in İzmir.
CHP Party Spokesperson and İzmir Deputy Deniz Yücel, along with CHP Deputy Chairmen Murat Bakan and Ensar Aytekin, argued that these arrests are intended to discredit the party.
According to the report by Ece İçmez from Cumhuriyet, Deniz Yücel stated that the arrests were an operation to discredit the CHP, saying, "This process was initiated to hinder the CHP's march to power. We believe that Tunç Soyer and Şenol Aslanoğlu are innocent, and we will submit our appeals at the beginning of the week." Yücel stated that they would apply to the court following a meeting with legal experts.
Ensar Aytekin emphasized that the arrests were directed at CHP figures, stating, "These operations stem from the fact that the CHP has become Turkey's leading party. The days when justice will be served are near."
Murat Bakan expressed their belief in the innocence of those arrested, saying, "Bureaucrats we have known for many years and their families have been victimized. This is a political operation, and we stand by them." Bakan stated that the arrests were made for political reasons and that they believe justice will prevail.
In the statement made in front of the courthouse following the arrests, the CHP indicated that they would continue their legal struggle and work for the release of the arrested individuals.
