CHP Group Deputy Chair Murat Emir: The CHP does not move forward with A4 papers from courts

The appointment of a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency by court order has drawn a sharp reaction from CHP Group Deputy Chair Murat Emir. Emir stated that the party's future would not be determined by court rulings, but by the will of its delegates and members.

In his statement, Emir said, "You went from court to court, found a court, trampled on the law, and appointed a trustee to our CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency. You thought you could remove our provincial chair, Özgür Çelik, who was elected by the votes of our delegates. But there was one thing you forgot: The CHP does not move forward with A4 papers from courts, but with the will of its delegates and members."

Stating that 572 of the 600 delegates in Istanbul remain in their positions, Emir said that 500 of these delegates provided signatures via a notary within 24 hours. "Among them are our mayors whom you have arrested, as well as those who voted for Özgür Çelik's opponent... Among those who could not sign are our delegates who resigned due to civil service requirements or who have passed away," he added.

Emphasizing that the will of the delegates cannot be influenced by money or threats, Emir said, "Our delegates know the procedure for taking office in the CHP and how to carry the burden of that duty with honor. A duty assigned by a delegate can only be ended by the decision of the delegate."

Finally, stating that the CHP's course cannot be charted by judicial decisions, Emir used the expression, "You will not be able to stand against the steel-like will of CHP members."
